With a combined income of $170 K plus, we did not pay much attention to how and what we were spending our money on and at times we were probably living beyond our means. We enjoyed going out with friends, fine dining, going to shows and buying what we wanted without thinking twice about it, and not really knowing where our money was going. By working with John and formulating a budget, we now have the tools to control our expenditure and continue to live the lifestyle we want and know what our limitations are. Focus your Money has guided us financially though a number of life changing events, such as, buying our first home, going through IVF/pregnancy, becoming a family, as well as providing advice on how to live on a reduced wage while on Maternity leave. We would like to thank John at Focus Your Money for your support and guidance.” — Watsons of Gunghalin, ACT, Canberra, Australia.
“Marc and I have had a talk and we agree that over the last 3 years you have provided us with the right tools to live better financially (Our Credit Card has been cleared). You have changed our way of thinking with money and its been good to work off a budget, even though at times its blown out. We have decided that we are ready to cut the apron stings and do it all on our own. Thank you John de Ridder for your great guidance over the past 3 years.” — Marc and Renee Hageraats, ACT, Canberra, Australia.
Hi John, Will and I have got our money issues all sorted out thanks to you! At this present time, we would like to cease our 12 month service with you. We think from everything you have taught us that we can do it, on our own. I would like to take this time to thank you so very much for all your help, without you and what you have done for us we would be sitting in a lot of debt. Your an amazing person, so once again from the bottom of our hearts, thanks. If we get into trouble again, you will be the first point of call. Kind regards, Kelly& Will” — Will Stirton and Kelly Murphy, ACT, Canberra, Australia.
John’s coaching process helped me uncover and identify the things that were holding me back and preventing me from seeing the possibilities and benefits inherent in a change. His step-by-step process and insightful counsel on financial matters taught me how to better approach reaching my goals. After working with John for a relatively short period of time, my financial goals are bearing fruition, and I have developed the methodology to achieve all that I desire. Needless to say, John’s executive services brought real value to my work and to my life”– Craig Munns, ACT, Canberra, Australia.
Your friendship and mentoring by watching over us and coaching us into better spending habits has been very much appreciated. Your positive coaching about our future plans and moderating our spending guide into realistic terms by re adjusting our original target spend was very insightful. From the onset I wanted to give this process 12 months and I’m glad to have done that. Having said that I would like to keep contact and call on services if need be and also to say hello. Sincerely John, we are very grateful of your patience and your assistance in helping us focus. We now eat less at restaurants, but what the hell we like cooking and are eating more regular healthy meals at home these days. Please stay in contact and if anything brings you to Melbourne please allow a bit of time to catch up with us. Kind Regards, Lou & Corallee. ” — Lou Catalani & Corallee, Melbourne, Australia.
“As a single parent, time and money are always a very tight juggle. I have pretty much always just reacted to the bills that come in every week and although some planning goes into major expenses there’s never a year long view of what needs paying and when and actually putting aside the money to meet those obligations easily. The yearly panic of coming up to Christmas without having Personal Money Systemed for presents always leave one feeling tired, stressed and wholly under-financed! This seems to be when car registration, insurance and holiday activities also become pressing money matters. This year a friend of mine suggested that I meet with John to look at a twelve month Personal Money System program that would teach me how to handle my money better. My first thought was “well I can hardly have a Personal Money System for that!” But having met John and seen how he really examined every single thing that money was being spent on from coffees out with the girls to my mortgage, I decided that it would be worth it to learn better management skills and just to raise my awareness of where my money was going. I am now eight months into the program and although my income still fluctuates, I have an idea based on previous bills how much utilities, maintenance, phone and internet, groceries, fuel and even DVDs for the children will likely cost me for the coming month and have money diverted into a B-Pay only account to deal with my fixed expenses. This only leaves me with weekly cash expenses to worry about as every thing else is accounted for and runs smoothly without much to do on my part. I have also managed to increase my mortgage repayments which means I am paying more off the principal loan amount and John also helped me to locate the various Superannuation funds I had going from being in a variety of casual employment and roll it all over into one fund that also gives me insurance cover for Death and Total Permanent Disability so that if the unlikely does happen, all my debts will be covered without leaving a burden for my family to deal with later. The most valuable part of this experience for me has been the growing feeling that my financial health is in my control and instead of saying to myself “how on earth am I going to come up with the money for that” I can now say “it’s been Personal Money System for” and go ahead and pay on time, without the drama. I have recently been able to afford to update my almost 20 year old car and am now saving money on fuel and it has really become fun to sort through my Personal Money System – sort of like a jigsaw puzzle. I never thought I’d say that in a million years!”– Jenny R., ACT, Canberra, Australia.
I am an up and becoming IT consultant working for the government at 23 years of age and earning $83000 per annum. I assume because I was earning this income I could buy most things I needed and wanted. I recently purchased a block of land for $185000 and moved into rental accommodation by myself. I have a car loan, and a visa car debt. I like to go out with my girlfriend for dinner when we feel like it and go to clubs to dance. I have never paid much attention to my spending habits and figured that money coming in allowed me to live this kind of lifestyle. John helped me to realize that if I keep doing what I have always done, I am always going to get what I have always got, which is debt and no control over my finances which is a cycle that will keep repeating itself. After doing a budget I realized that with controlled expenditure I can still go out, maybe not as often. I am happy to say I am now concentrating on debt reduction rather than debt accumulation and I will be in my own home within three years. Without this plan I know I would not be able to achieve this milestone in my life. John has made me realise the importance of planning and controlled expenditure. I never thought I could live the lifestyle I wanted on the income I earn and achieve my ultimate goal of building a home on my land within 5 years. Thank You John!” — Joel O’ Conner, ACT, Canberra, Australia.
